What Photography Means to Me as a Travel Blogger

With just with a single touch of a shutter button, you can make time stand still, capture a moment, and treasure it forever. For me, this is what makes photography an essential part of being a travel blogger.

Our country has more than 200 hundred festivals celebrated all throughout the year. Some of them are mainstream and popular, while some remain hidden and intimate. Nevertheless, all festivals are unique and special in their own way. What you witness in one festivity may seem similar with another, but if you look at them closely, each celebration has their own distinctive character. This is also one reason why I don’t get tired of photographing festivals no matter how exhausting it gets especially for parades done in the middle of the day.

Another reason is, each festival in the Philippines is always related to a particular belief in the area. In joining these festivities, I understand more about how diverse our culture is with others. Because of this, I have higher respect and appreciation of our differences as Filipinos.

A big bonus I get as a photoblogger is when festival dancers use my photos as their profile picture in their social media accounts. Some participants also send messages to personally thank me for the wonderful photos they have which in a way is kind of rewarding as a photographer because people appreciate my work. With the digital world that we are in today and with so many so-called travellers, it’s important to always remember the reason why you take these photographs because this is what makes your photos different from others.

I am sharing my passion in photography with fellow photographers on PhotoWorld Asia 2019 – Photoshow and Convention.
