Privacy Policy
Effective date: 6 November 2026
1. Who we are
Palibut.com is a travel and photography blog operated by Rob Pinzon, covering festivals, food, and travel in the Philippines and beyond. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us through the Contact page at https://palibut.com/contact-us/.
2. Information we collect
Comments: If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website you provide, along with your IP address and browser details. Comments are checked for spam through Akismet (run by Automattic), which receives that information as part of the check.
Contact form: If you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you send, so we can reply to you.
Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how readers use the site, such as which pages are visited, how long people stay, and roughly where in the world they are visiting from. This uses cookies and does not identify you by name.
Advertising: We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to show ads based on your browsing. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will first be asked for your consent before personalised advertising is used.
Embedded content: Some posts include photos hosted on Flickr or videos from YouTube. Viewing that content means those services may collect information about your visit and set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device that help the site work and help us understand how it is used. The site uses cookies for its own basic operation, for analytics, and for advertising as described above. Visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time using the privacy settings link in the site menu or footer. You can also control cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage Google ad personalisation at https://adssettings.google.com/ and opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies at https://optout.aboutads.info/.
4. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to operate the site, respond to your messages, publish and moderate comments, understand our readership, and show advertising that helps fund the site. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with the services that help run the site: Google (for Analytics and AdSense advertising), Automattic (for Akismet spam detection on comments), and our web hosting provider. These services process information on our behalf and under their own privacy policies. We do not share your information with any other third party except where required by law.
6. How long we keep information
Comments are kept for as long as the post they belong to remains published, unless you ask us to remove them. Contact form messages are kept until your enquiry is resolved. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics retention settings.
7. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it or delete it, to restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to object to its use. You can also withdraw any consent you have given at any time. If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it; we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through https://palibut.com/contact-us/. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
9. Data transfers and security
Because the services we use (such as Google) operate internationally, your information may be processed in a country other than your own, including the United States. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated, and significant changes will be noted here.
