Panagbenga is Baguio City’s flower festival, held every February since the mid-1990s to revive tourism after the 1990 Luzon earthquake. Its name is a Kankanaey term often translated as “season of blooming,” and for one weekend the City of Pines lives up to it — Session Road fills with street dancers and floats covered end to end in fresh flowers.
The photographs in this post are from the February 2010 edition: parade day on Session Road, when the floral floats move slowly through packed crowds and the whole downtown smells of chrysanthemums and anthuriums. If you plan to go, book rooms months ahead — Baguio fills up fast during Panagbenga weekend.
