The Sinukwan Festival is the City of San Fernando’s celebration of Kapampangan culture and heritage, held in honour of Aring Sinukuan, the legendary god of Mount Arayat in Kapampangan folklore. Through street dancing, colourful costumes and cultural performances, the festival keeps Kapampangan traditions, stories and identity alive for younger generations.
Groups from different towns and schools take part in the festivities, performing choreographed dances in elaborate, brightly coloured costumes to lively festival music, drawing crowds of spectators to the city. The photos in this post are from our trip to the Sinukwan Festival in 2016 in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
