The Kadayawan Festival is Davao City’s annual celebration of thanksgiving for nature’s bountiful harvest, its rich culture and its people. Held in August, it is one of the most colourful festivals in the Philippines, with street parades, floral floats and displays of flowers, fruits and local produce filling the city.

Pamulak sa Kadayawan, the festival’s floral float parade, is a highlight of the celebration, with floats decorated with flowers and fruits from the region. The photos in this post are from our 2017 trip to Davao City for the Kadayawan Festival and its Pamulak and Pitik sa Kadayawan festivities.

Many of the country’s biggest festivals come together in Manila each year, as you can see in our post on Aliwan Fiesta 2010, often called the festival of champions.
