Sinulog is Cebu City’s grand January festival in honor of the Santo Niño, the Holy Child Jesus, whose image is treasured at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño. Its grand parade brings together contingents in bright costumes dancing the sinulog steps to drums and chants of devotion through the city’s main streets.
The parade is the centerpiece of a weekend that also includes religious processions and fluvial events, drawing devotees and visitors to Cebu from all over the Philippines. For photographers, the combination of movement, color, and crowd energy makes Sinulog one of the country’s most vivid festivals to document.
