Kalibo Cathedral in Kalibo, Aklan, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, is the town’s main Roman Catholic church. Standing in the heart of Kalibo, it is a centre of worship for the local Catholic community and a familiar landmark for visitors to the town.
The cathedral is closely associated with devotion to the Santo Niño in Kalibo, which reaches its peak each January during the Ati-Atihan Festival, when devotees and visitors fill the church and the streets around it.
The photograph in this post is from a 2013 visit to Kalibo, Aklan.
Kalibo is best known for that January celebration — see our photographs of the Ati-Atihan Festival 2013.
