Divisoria, in the heart of Manila around Recto Avenue and the districts of Tondo and Binondo, is the Philippines’ most famous bargain shopping destination. Its streets and malls — from the stalls along Juan Luna and Santo Cristo to shopping centers like 168, 999, and Tutuban — sell everything from clothes, fabrics, and school supplies to party needs and wholesale goods at rock-bottom prices. Bargain hunters from all over the country descend on Divisoria especially before the school opening and the Christmas season, when the crowds and the deals are at their peak. These photos are from a 2013 walk around Divisoria.
