Flores de Mayo is the beloved Philippine devotion to the Virgin Mary held throughout the month of May, when children and young ladies offer flowers at the altar every afternoon. Its most colorful highlight is the Santacruzan, a procession of queens representing biblical and historical figures, led by Reyna Elena. In Pampanga, towns choose their own Reyna ning Flores de Mayo — Kapampangan for “Queen of Flores de Mayo” — who leads the local celebrations in her finest gown. These photos are from the Reyna ning Flores de Mayo of May 2010, a celebration of faith, beauty, and Kapampangan tradition.
