The Sinukwan Festival is the week-long cultural celebration of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, held from late November to early December. Named after Atching Sinhukwan (Aring Sinukwan), the mythical king in Kapampangan folklore, the festival showcases the province’s culture through a grand street-dancing competition, parades, cultural presentations, trade fairs, and food events. Schools, barangays, and municipalities across Pampanga join in costumes inspired by Kapampangan legend and harvest thanksgiving. This post covers the Sinukwan Festival of 2013 in San Fernando, the cultural prelude to the city’s famous Giant Lantern season.
