The Sinulog Festival is Cebu City’s great festival in honour of the Santo Nino, the Child Jesus, and one of its most prayerful highlights is the Solemn Procession. Devotees fill the streets of Cebu City for the procession, many carrying their own images of the Santo Nino, praying and singing as the image is carried through the city.

Where the grand parade is loud and festive, the Solemn Procession is a quieter, more reflective expression of the same deep devotion that has made Sinulog one of the most famous festivals in the Philippines. The photos in this post are from our trip to the Sinulog Festival Solemn Procession in 2014 in Cebu City.

Another famous Philippine festival in honour of the Santo Nino is Iloilo City’s celebration, which you can see in our post on Dinagyang Festival 2010.
