The Sinulog Festival is Cebu City’s grand annual festival in honour of the Santo Nino, the Holy Child. Its solemn procession, held during the festival days in January, is one of the most devotional parts of the Sinulog, drawing huge crowds of devotees through the streets of Cebu City.

Unlike the colourful street dancing of the grand parade, the solemn procession is a prayerful foot procession that brings the image of the Santo Nino through the city streets, with devotees lining the route, many carrying candles and praying as it passes.

The photographs in this post are from the solemn procession of the Sinulog Festival 2014 in Cebu City, taken during that year’s January festival.
