The Bangus Festival is the flagship festival of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, celebrated every April in honor of the city’s famous product, the bangus (milkfish). One of its main events is the Gilon-Gilon ed Baley, a street-dancing competition where barangays perform dances depicting the harvest and culture of bangus raising — “gilon-gilon” refers to the traditional way of gathering harvested fish. The festival also features the Kalutan ed Dalan, a massive street grilling party where thousands of bangus are cooked along the downtown streets. These photos are from the Gilon-Gilon ed Baley competition of the 2014 Bangus Festival.
