Reliving the Feast of the Fish
In 2015, I had the incredible opportunity to experience Dagupan City’s Bangus Festival as a photographer. Eager to immerse myself in the festivities, I aimed to capture the unique blend of culture, tradition, and culinary excellence that this annual event embodies.
The Bangus Parade: A Visual Spectacle
The Bangus Festival, a celebration dedicated to the city’s prized fish, the milkfish or “bangus,” is a visual spectacle. The festival’s highlight is the “Bangus Parade,” a vibrant procession featuring floats adorned with intricately designed structures made entirely of milkfish. The creativity and craftsmanship on display were truly awe-inspiring.
Culinary Delights: A Feast for the Senses
Beyond the parades and festivities, I was drawn to the heart of the festival: the culinary delights. Dagupan City is renowned for its delicious milkfish dishes. The festival provided an opportunity to sample a variety of culinary creations. From the classic “sinigang na bangus” to innovative dishes like “bangus pizza,” there was something to satisfy every palate.
Capturing the Vibrant Spirit of the Festival
As a Kapampangan photographer, I focused on capturing the raw energy and excitement of the festival. I aimed to document the joy and pride of the people of Dagupan City as they celebrated their local heritage. The vibrant colors, the smiling faces, and the infectious enthusiasm of the participants made for a truly unforgettable experience.
Conclusion
Reflecting on my time at the Bangus Festival 2015, I am grateful for the opportunity to witness such a remarkable event. The festival’s blend of tradition, culture, and culinary excellence left a lasting impression on me. Through my photographs, I hope to share the vibrant spirit of Dagupan City and the enduring love of its people for the milkfish.
