The Pindangan Festival is the City of San Fernando, La Union’s annual celebration of its cityhood and its roots. The city takes the festival’s name from its original name, Pindangan — “a place for sun-drying meat” — and marks the occasion every March, around the cityhood anniversary on March 20 (San Fernando became a component city of La Union in 1998). The centrepiece is the street dancing competition, where schools, barangays and civic groups perform routines drawn from local customs and the city’s history. These photos are from the Pindangan Festival 2017 edition, tagged the People’s City Fiesta.
