The schools category is where the MassKara Festival finds its next generation of performers. In the MassKara Festival 2017 street dance competition, school contingents from across Bacolod City took to the streets in smiling masks and bright costumes, performing choreography they had rehearsed for months. The school category has long been a crowd favourite: the dancers are students, the routines are drilled to precision, and the energy is pure school pride. These photos, taken during the October 2017 festival, show the school contingents on the parade route — proof that in Bacolod, the MassKara tradition is handed down early and worn with a smile.
