The Giant Lantern Festival, known in Kapampangan as Ligligan Parul, is the signature Christmas celebration of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, often called the Christmas capital of the Philippines. Barangays compete with giant lanterns whose thousands of lights dance in synchronized patterns, a tradition that has made the city famous every December.
This post lists the winners of the 2013 competition, with photos of the top entries. The photos in this post are from our 2013 trip to San Fernando, taken during that year’s Ligligan Parul.
