Noel Cabangon is one of the Philippines’ best-loved folk singers, a singer-songwriter whose acoustic songs have soundtracked Filipino journeys for decades. His album Byahe takes its name from the Filipino word for a journey or trip, and it is a fitting title for a musician whose music is so often about home, travel and the places in between.

The photographs in this post are from March 2010, when Byahe was the album Cabangon was sharing with listeners. They are kept here as a small record of that release – a Filipino folk album built around the idea of the road, at a time when this site was likewise documenting its own travels around the Philippines.
