Cape Bojeador Lighthouse has watched over the northern coast of Luzon since it was first lit in 1892. The Spanish-era brick tower stands on Vigia de Nagpartian hill in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, overlooking Cape Bojeador and the West Philippine Sea, and it still serves as an active aid to navigation today.
Getting there means a short climb from the coastal highway, and the reward is a wide view of the Ilocos shoreline. The lighthouse is now a protected heritage structure, and its weathered brickwork is exactly what makes it worth photographing. The photo below is from our 2010 Ilocos road trip.
From the lighthouse, the coastal road continues north to the Patapat Viaduct.
