The Giant Lantern Festival, known in Kapampangan as Ligligan Parul, is the signature Christmas festival of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Barangays compete with giant lanterns – parul – built with thousands of bulbs and intricate, kaleidoscopic light displays, which is why San Fernando is known as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines.
