Every January, Manila marks the Feast of the Black Nazarene, centred on Quiapo Church, home of the revered dark image of Jesus Christ known as the Black Nazarene. The feast’s procession draws enormous crowds of devotees through the streets around Quiapo, many walking barefoot and hoping to get close to the image as an act of faith.
This post is a photo companion to our coverage of that celebration, with more images of the devotees and the scenes around the feast. The photos in this post are from the Feast of the Black Nazarene in 2014 in Manila.
