The Feast of the Black Nazarene is one of the largest religious celebrations in the Philippines, held in Manila in January in honour of the Black Nazarene, the revered dark image of Jesus Christ kept in Quiapo Church. Devotees join the long procession of the image through the streets, many of them walking barefoot as an expression of devotion and sacrifice.
For many devotees, taking part is a vow of faith and thanksgiving for answered prayers, and the feast draws huge crowds to Quiapo and the surrounding streets every year. The photos in this post are from our trip to the Feast of the Black Nazarene in 2014 in Manila.
