Dayaw: The Indigenous Peoples Festival is the Philippines’ biggest celebration of indigenous culture, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) every October during National Indigenous Peoples Month. “Dayaw” is a word shared by several Philippine languages meaning celebration, pride, and honor. The festival gathers indigenous groups from all over the country for traditional dances, music, rituals, crafts, games, and forums on indigenous rights and heritage. The 2015 edition brought together hundreds of indigenous cultural masters and performers in one grand showcase of the nation’s living traditions. These photos are from Dayaw 2015.
