Maleldo is the Kapampangan observance of Holy Week, and Pampanga is known across the Philippines for the depth of its Lenten traditions. Throughout the week, Kapampangan towns hold processions, pabasa readings and public acts of penance as communities commemorate the Passion of Christ.

In the City of San Fernando, Angeles City and Bacolor, devotees fill churches and streets for these solemn observances, many of them taking part in traditions passed down through generations of their families. The photographs in this post are from Maleldo in 2017 in those three places.

Photos were taken in Angeles City, Bacolor and City San Fernando.
